With many years experience in the recreational dive industry and involvement with community based and volunteer reef monitoring and conservation programs, Conus are able to provide you with a range of services in the reef monitoring and conservation field.

Pete Faulkner first became involved in reef conservation in 1992 when he travelled to Belize with British-based conservation group Coral Cay Conservation. After many years association with CCC, and experience with both monitoring and training at various expedition sites around the world, he was appointed Chairman in 2005.

Arriving in Australia in 2006, both Pete and Ruth became involved with Reef Check Australia and Pete has taken a leading role in the provision of training to volunteers in the Far North Queensland region as well as training a number of Reef Check Australia Trainers.

With his extensive experience of the PADI diver training system Pete has written two PADI Authorised Distinctive Speciality Courses focusing on Coral Identification.

Pete’s membership of the Cassowary Coast Marine Advisory Committee, activities with Project AWARE and other monitoring projects has provided him with a solid understanding of community based reef monitoring regimes and training protocols.
